Cloaks

Overview

We do not have standard off the shelf cloaks but design and create cloaks especially for you. We normally work by mail order although, if you live close to us, we are happy to sit down with you and discuss your requirements and take any measurements we may need. (Visitors by appointment only.)

If there are no fabric outlets convenient for you or you would prefer us to obtain material for you, we can do so. Normally we would obtain samples (costs vary from supplier to supplier) from a number of fabric retailers for you to consider before making a final selection.

If you prefer to deal with fabric retailers yourself, there are a large number now offering online services (do a search on one of the main search engine sites). We can point you at a few that we use. If you are selecting a basic fabric, images on the Internet may be sufficient for you to make a decision but we always recommend you obtain samples.

Suitable velvet typically costs from £10 per metre. Once we have your measurements and have agreed a design we can tell you how much material to purchase or we can obtain it for you.

The exact quantity of material can not be calculated until we have full measurements. Usually, at least 5 metres of fabric and also of lining are required for a typical cloak

Costs

We will cover the cost of the fastenings  (unless anything special is required) and cotton.Typical costs will be made up as follows:

• approximately £310 for an adult cloak with hood including velvet and lining
• optional: £10 for additional pockets
• embroidery costs vary depending on complexity
• approx £15 for shipping and handling (including costs to ship raw materials to us in the first place) within the UK for one cloak.
